This policy explains what information HoursForHours collects, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We've tried to write it in plain English.
HoursForHours ("we," "us," or "our") is operated by Rick Barrera, doing business as HoursForHours, a sole proprietor based in San Diego, California. For anything about your privacy, reach us at hello@hoursforhours.com. This policy covers our website and services (the "Service").
We collect information in three ways: what you give us, what's created as you use the Service, and what comes automatically from your device.
We use your information to:
We share personal information only in these situations:
We rely on trusted third parties to run the Service. Each handles only the information it needs, and each has its own privacy policy:

| Supabase | Stores accounts, listings, and messages, and checks passwords at sign-in | Account, profile, listing, and message data |
| "Continue with Google" sign-in | Basic profile info from your Google account, if you use it to sign in | |
| Microsoft | "Continue with Microsoft" sign-in | Basic profile info from your Microsoft account, if you use it to sign in |
| Stripe | Processes membership payments | Payment and billing information you enter at checkout |
| Resend | Sends our emails (confirmations, alerts, updates) | Your email address and the contents of those messages |
| Google Workspace | Our business email inbox, used when we correspond with you directly | Your email address and the contents of messages you send us or we send you |

HoursForHours is a community, so some information is meant to be seen by other members. This typically includes your public profile, the listings you post, your general neighborhood, and the ratings and tags you receive. Your messages are shared with the member you send them to. Your email address, password, and payment details are not shown to other members. Think before posting anything you wouldn't want neighbors to see.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We don't run ads in the Service or let advertisers pay to reach you.
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we'll delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we need to keep some of it to comply with the law, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, or enforce our agreements. Some content, like ratings you left for others, may remain visible in de-identified form so the community's reputation record stays intact.
You can:
We honor these choices for everyone, wherever you live.
We're based in California and we care about doing right by our neighbors, so we extend these rights to you regardless of whether we're currently required by law to. Under California privacy law, California residents may have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use and share it, to request access to or deletion of it, to correct it, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Because we don't sell or share personal information for advertising, there's nothing to opt out of on that front. To make a request, email hello@hoursforhours.com; we may need to verify your identity before we act.
We use reasonable measures — including trusted providers, encryption in transit, and access controls — to protect your information. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, though, so we can't guarantee absolute security. Help us protect your account by using a strong, unique password and keeping it private.
The Service is for adults. It isn't directed to anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us at hello@hoursforhours.com and we'll delete it.
We may update this policy as the Service grows. If we make material changes, we'll take reasonable steps to let you know, such as posting a notice on the site or emailing you, and we'll update the date at the top.
